Overview
This opportunity is for a Video Editor/Animator based in Canada and is being handled on behalf of a partner company. Applications and the following hiring steps are managed by that partner. The role is centered on creative storytelling, turning complex business, product, and customer material into polished video content for a global audience.
You will work across documentary-style editing, motion design, and narrative production to build learning and enablement content that is both engaging and easy to understand. The position involves shaping raw materials such as interviews, location footage, stock visuals, and AI-generated assets into compelling stories with emotional impact and educational value. You will partner with producers, writers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure the final output supports both storytelling quality and business goals. Along with hands-on editing, you will also contribute ideas that help improve creative direction and raise the overall quality and consistency of the team’s video work.
Accountabilities
- Turn raw video footage into finished, high-quality edits ready for delivery.
- Create strong documentary-style narratives using interviews, unscripted footage, and mixed media.
- Develop multiple content types such as explainers, episodic pieces, interviews, and short-form enablement videos.
- Convert complex product and business topics into clear, audience-friendly visual stories for international viewers.
- Use advanced post-production methods including color correction, sound enhancement, pacing, and final finishing.
- Design and blend motion graphics, titles, and visual treatments that strengthen clarity and audience engagement.
- Work closely with producers, writers, designers, and other collaborators throughout the production workflow.
- Offer creative suggestions and editorial support to improve consistency and overall team output.
- Keep content aligned with brand standards, communication tone, and intended messaging.
- Explore new storytelling approaches, editing tools, and production techniques to continually improve quality.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional video editing experience with a strong emphasis on storytelling.
- Demonstrated ability to edit documentary-style content built from interviews and unscripted material.
- Advanced working knowledge of Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve.
- Solid grasp of story structure, pacing, and emotionally effective storytelling.
- Experience creating and using motion graphics to support visual narratives.
- Ability to simplify complex ideas into engaging and easy-to-follow video content.
- Comfort working in collaborative, cross-functional production teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to juggle several deadlines at once.
- Experience in branded content, documentary filmmaking, or educational media is considered an advantage.
- Background in mentoring or guiding other editors is a plus.
