About the Role

This role is focused on packaging content in a way that drives clicks and viewer interest. The thumbnail designer is expected to convert a video’s core idea into a compelling visual that stands out in a busy content feed. The work will be done in an AI-first setup, using generative tools to produce assets and variations much faster than traditional manual workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Create thumbnails that communicate a story almost instantly using composition, contrast, and color choices that direct attention effectively.
• Design strong hooks with minimal text and imagery that create curiosity or urgency.
• Select or generate expressive hero images and facial cues that resonate with viewers.
• Partner with the Channel Intelligence Lead to review A/B testing outcomes and improve designs based on actual performance data.
• Use generative AI platforms such as Midjourney, DALL-E 3, or Stable Diffusion to build original assets, backgrounds, and characters.
• Apply AI-powered Photoshop tools such as Generative Fill and Expand to edit images, replace elements, and speed up composition work.
• Maintain a reusable library of AI-generated assets to shorten turnaround time from concept to final thumbnail.
• Stay updated on new AI models and techniques and adopt improvements that enhance speed or quality.
• Produce several thumbnail options for each video and test different visual directions, colors, and layouts.
• Use CTR and qualified view metrics to understand which designs perform best for the intended audience.
• Preserve a premium and recognizable channel identity while still experimenting with new thumbnail ideas.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong command of the Adobe Creative Suite and a flexible, tool-agnostic approach to getting the best outcome quickly.
• Good visual judgment for lighting, shadows, perspective, and realistic blending of AI-generated elements.
• Ability to deliver a high volume of polished thumbnails without compromising quality.
• Comfort with analyzing data and explaining why one visual direction may perform better than another.
• A strong sense of ownership and proactive thinking when content performance needs improvement.
