Role overview
This opportunity is with a care home service supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and acquired brain injuries. The post is ideal for an experienced support worker who is ready to move into a leadership position and contribute to the everyday running of a residential care setting.
The service is based at Cygnet Fairways in a Suffolk village and provides long-term support for people with complex needs, including behaviours that may challenge. Care is delivered around the clock, with a strong focus on person-centred planning tailored to each individual’s needs.
You will work 39.8 hours each week and help create a positive impact for the people living there.
Key duties
In this role, you will help deliver high-quality, individualised care while also supporting the management team to keep the service running smoothly.
- Deliver enhanced, person-focused care that is flexible and adapted to each person
- Provide practical, emotional and motivational support to service users
- Assess individual needs and respond in a way that encourages dignity, choice and independence
- Support health, medical and welfare needs and keep clear, accurate records
- Assist with the daily operation of the service and help maintain high standards
- Carry out supervisory duties and guide other staff members
- Complete required administrative work in line with service procedures
- Promote safeguarding and ensure it is followed consistently
- Help maintain a safe, clean and supportive environment for residents and colleagues
About you
The employer is seeking someone with relevant care experience, a strong values-led approach and the confidence to step into leadership.
- At least 2 years of experience in a care home or a similar setting
- Background supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and/or acquired brain injuries
- Currently working as a support worker and looking to progress into a leadership role
- Genuine commitment to improving the lives of others
- Confident, proactive and able to take initiative when leading a team
- Strong communicator who works well with others
- Compassionate, thoughtful, resilient and positive in approach
- Able to encourage independence and empower the people supported
- Well organised, dependable and keen to develop management skills
