Role overview
Pillar & Peacock is looking for a Studio Assistant to help keep the studio running smoothly and maintain a polished, efficient work environment. This is a practical, fast-moving position suited to someone who is highly organized, takes initiative, pays close attention to detail, and is comfortable stepping in wherever support is needed. It is also a strong entry point for someone beginning a career in interior design.
What you will do
- Help keep the office tidy, organized, and ready to receive clients and visitors.
- Manage the materials library, including samples, finishes, and related resources.
- Welcome guests and provide a professional first impression for the studio.
- Assist the design team with administrative work and project-related tasks.
- Handle errands such as mail runs, deliveries, pickup of materials, coffee runs, office supply purchases, and similar needs.
- Track office supplies and report facility maintenance issues when they arise.
- Support day-to-day studio upkeep, including trash removal and keeping shared areas in good condition.
Qualifications and core strengths
- A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design is required.
- Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Microsoft Office, and Mac OS is expected.
- Strong communication, presentation, and organizational abilities are important for this role.
- The right candidate should be creative, detail-focused, and comfortable solving problems proactively.
- A valid driver’s license and a dependable vehicle are necessary for occasional travel between offices and project locations.
Working conditions
This is a full-time position based in Richmond, VA. The role involves working independently as well as collaborating with teams across different locations. Reliable transportation is needed for travel to project sites.
Physical expectations
- Regular desk work and extended computer use are part of the job.
- You should be able to review detailed drawings, renderings, and technical documents in both digital and printed formats.
- Some standing, walking, bending, and reaching will be required for material review, sample handling, and site visits.
- The role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, such as sample boxes, presentation boards, or materials.
- Clear communication with clients, vendors, and team members is essential in person and virtually.
