Role overview
The Shift Leader supports Captain D’s guest experience and team performance while overseeing restaurant operations during assigned shifts. When serving as the manager on duty, this person is responsible for maintaining food quality, keeping the restaurant clean, and making sure every team member delivers the company’s hospitality standards.
Key duties
- Lead by example by reflecting Captain D’s values throughout daily work and shift management.
- Provide a welcoming, service-focused experience to both guests and coworkers.
- Stay informed about restaurant procedures and consistently apply them on the job.
- Protect guest satisfaction by ensuring company standards and safety practices are being followed by the shift team.
- Oversee food safety practices during food preparation and service.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation across work areas, dining areas, and restrooms.
- Help ensure that food quality remains high from preparation through service.
- Follow company policies and make sure the team remains compliant during the shift.
- Support restaurant profitability through correct food production, cash handling controls, and completion of accounting and administrative reports when needed.
- Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Education and experience
- Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities are required.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and respond effectively to questions.
- Ability to handle several tasks at the same time is important.
Requirements
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
Physical requirements
- Regular use of speech, hearing, near vision, hand-eye coordination, color recognition, and manual dexterity is needed.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching overhead, bending, and lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds are part of the role.
- The job involves working closely with others and repeating the same motions for long periods.
- Occasionally, the role may require use of taste and smell, distance vision, working around cleaning chemicals, moving on uneven surfaces, using a step stool or ladder, lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, and operating a vehicle.
Work schedule and conditions
- Workdays and hours may change based on business needs, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- The designated night manager must complete at least four closing shifts each week, work up to 40 hours per week, and may still be scheduled on weekends or holidays depending on business needs.
- This role is based in standard restaurant working conditions.
- Work may involve exposure to common restaurant temperature extremes, including heat or cold from equipment or outdoor weather.
