Shift Lead

About the Role

Walgreens is seeking a dedicated Shift Lead to oversee store operations in the absence of management. This role involves opening and closing the store, managing cash handling, ensuring store readiness, and providing exceptional customer service. You will be responsible for various operational tasks, including processing returns, managing inventory, maintaining store appearance, and ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for store opening and closing procedures, including system startups and secure cash handling.
• Facilitate smooth delivery operations by opening the back door for vendors.
• Process customer transactions accurately, including returns, order voids, and refunds.
• Provide change to cash registers as needed.
• Deliver a consistently positive and engaging customer experience by greeting customers, offering assistance, and resolving issues promptly.
• Coach team members on best practices for customer service, embodying Walgreens service standards.
• Assist with and train colleagues on the warehouse and vendor ordering processes, from creation to receipt of orders.
• Ensure all sales are accurately registered, documenting any scanning errors, price discrepancies, or voids.
• Support management in reviewing order exceptions and managing reverse logistics, such as returns and empty packages.
• Contribute to visual merchandising by assisting with the creation and maintenance of displays, including promotional and seasonal setups, and completing resets.
• Maintain precise inventory counts and on-hand accuracy across all store areas, including the stockroom and overstock locations.
• Oversee the Outdate program to ensure product freshness and minimize waste.
• Manage basic department pricing, execute daily price changes, and ensure accurate signage is displayed.
• Complete additional pricing tasks as required by local regulations.
• Assist with bookkeeping duties, including cash reports, counts, and bill payments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment, initiating repair requests as needed.
• Ensure proper product placement and stock rotation using the FIFO method for perishable items.
• Utilize working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
• Provide support at the Pharmacy window when requested.
• Enforce compliance with laws regarding regulated products like alcohol and tobacco.
• Conduct team member bag checks before departure.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, fostering respectful workplace relationships.
• Undertake special assignments and other duties as directed.

Requirements

• A minimum of one year of experience in a leadership, supervisory, or key holder role within a retail environment.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is mandatory (except in Puerto Rico).
• Knowledge of store inventory control systems is preferred.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or a pharmacy license as required by the state.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant store environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including opening and closing shifts.
