Shift Incharge - Production (Paintshop- ACED)

Role overviewThis position is for a Shift Incharge in the Paintshop, supporting ACED and liquid paint operations at the manufacturing site. The role focuses on guiding shift teams, meeting daily output targets, and maintaining a disciplined, performance-driven environment across production activities.The reporting line is to the Production Lead - Paintshop, and the team belongs to Production, Manufacturing Operations.Team and business contextThe production function is responsible for aligning shift resources and driving key operational metrics across the SQCDM framework so that battery manufacturing runs smoothly. The role also involves planning training on the job to build multi-skilled associates and strengthen shift capability.Key technical responsibilitiesProvide hands-on technical supervision for Cathode Electro Deposition (ACED) and liquid paint processes, including equipment handling and process flow sequencing.Monitor and control critical operating parameters such as film thickness, viscosity, voltage, and chemical composition to reduce defects and maintain consistency.Stay current with new manufacturing technologies and introduce practical improvements where relevant.Keep the production process stable and healthy while ensuring plant and equipment remain in good working condition.Quality, compliance, and coordinationEnsure that output from the shift follows the organization’s quality systems, procedures, and standards.Partner with New Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance teams to support new product introductions and prevent issues related to products, tooling, or fixtures.Maintain readiness for internal process audits, stock audits, and external ISO certification audits.Support change management activities such as MQ1, SOR, and DAP, and work with Spec Ops on containment actions when required.Experience and educationThe preferred educational background is B.E. in Chemical, Mechanical, or Production Engineering. The role calls for 5+ years of experience in a paintshop environment, preferably in automotive or two-wheeler manufacturing, including at least 2 years in a supervisory position.Capabilities expectedStrong people leadership skills to coordinate and align the full production team during shifts.Clear presentation and communication skills for sharing updates with stakeholders.Practical use of lean manufacturing and productivity improvement methods to optimize operations.Ability to apply structured problem-solving and quality tools such as A3 and PDCA to meet quality goals.Technical knowledgeWorking understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, and JIT.Awareness of safety standards used in industry and relevant labor law requirements.About the employerThe company develops intelligent electric scooters and is expanding its product portfolio, charging network, and ownership experience.
