Role Overview

Malomatia is hiring a Senior AI Engineer in Doha, Qatar to design and deliver production-grade generative AI solutions. The role calls for deep hands-on experience in building LLM-based applications, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic systems, along with the ability to guide standards and mentor other engineers.

What You Need to Bring

• 6 to 10 years of engineering experience, including recent work focused on generative AI and LLM applications.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to OCI Generative AI services and deployment on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of fine-tuning, prompt refinement, and model adaptation.
• Background in government or other regulated settings with privacy and data-residency constraints.
• Familiarity with evaluation tools and observability platforms for LLM systems.
• Experience adding AI capabilities to enterprise software products.
• Understanding of responsible AI and governance considerations.
• AI or cloud-related certifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design generative AI solutions, including retrieval-augmented generation, agentic flows, and LLM-powered applications.
• Own model selection and evaluation strategy while balancing quality, cost, latency, and data-residency needs.
• Build and supervise evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and safety controls for AI systems.
• Set AI engineering practices and reusable approaches for prompt orchestration, embeddings, retrieval, and vector search.
• Develop retrieval architectures, including chunking, indexing, and grounding methods for RAG.
• Improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of generative AI systems in production.
• Integrate foundation models through APIs, including OCI Generative AI services, into customer-facing applications.
• Lead the design of agentic solutions with tool use, orchestration, and multi-step reasoning.
• Support and coach AI engineers through design reviews, prompt reviews, and implementation feedback.
• Work with stakeholders and solution architects to define AI roadmaps and scope suitable use cases.
• Create observability, evaluation pipelines, and quality metrics for live AI features.
• Keep pace with new models, tools, and techniques in the evolving generative AI ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with LLM application frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, or similar alternatives.
• Practical experience with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and retrieval design.
• Experience building agentic systems and tool-calling workflows.
• Ability to define evaluation methods, guardrails, and safety controls for LLM solutions.
• Demonstrated success in architecting AI solutions and mentoring or leading engineers.
• Understanding of how to manage cost and latency in foundation-model applications.
• Clear communication skills for explaining technical decisions and trade-offs to both technical and business audiences.
