Role Overview
This position is responsible for leading project-level risk oversight and process safety management across the full project lifecycle. The role ensures that risks are identified early, assessed clearly, tracked diligently, and reduced through coordinated action. It also involves guiding process safety studies from pre-FEED through commissioning for steel plant projects, while keeping delivery aligned with approved schedules, budgets, and risk baselines.
About the Employer
AM/NS India is an integrated flat carbon steel producer with operations spanning from iron ore to market-ready products and an achievable crude steel capacity of 9 MTPA. Its facilities cover iron making, steelmaking, and downstream operations across India. The organization emphasizes collaboration, excellence, innovation, and strong safety practices, and it offers opportunities for career growth, leadership development, and long-term professional fulfillment. It is an equal opportunity employer.

- Ensure potential project risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, and monitored in a structured manner.
- Align engineering planning and execution with approved timelines, budgets, and risk assumptions.
- Prepare and present risk dashboards with quantified risk analysis on weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles.
- Drive process safety studies during pre-FEED, FEED, detailed engineering, execution, and commissioning.
- Ensure all process safety studies and mitigation actions are completed within timelines and in line with corporate, statutory, and international requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, safety, EPCMs, OEMs, consultants, and vendors to identify and control process hazards.
- Lead project risk identification, uncertainty analysis, likelihood-impact evaluation, and development of risk response plans.
- Maintain engineering deliverable control indices, risk-linked schedules, and milestone plans.
- Manage interfaces with consultants, OEMs, EPC partners, and internal teams to support timely deliverables and approvals.
- Facilitate process hazard analyses such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS, FERA, LOPA, FMEA, HFE, SIL, ERP, What-if reviews, and related studies.
- Represent process safety interests during design and implementation discussions to ensure safety requirements are built into engineering packages.
- Track PHA actions, SIL verifications, safety specifications, and other process safety deliverables until closure.
- Ensure MOC and PSSR procedures are followed for all process changes.
- Maintain process safety information including compatibility matrices, safety equipment details, deviation consequences, and critical operating parameters.
- Monitor engineering progress, identify deviations and early warning signals, and support corrective and preventive action plans.
- Support CAPEX planning, contingency estimation, resource planning, and risk-based budgeting for process safety scope.
- Track milestones, critical path items, S-curves, and recovery plans for engineering execution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve design changes, technical queries, RFIs, and action items.
- Maintain controlled documentation, revision history, traceability, risk registers, and compliance records.
- Prepare dashboards, heat maps, summary notes, progress reports, and trend analyses for management review.
- Mentor and train central and site teams on process safety methods, change management, hazard analysis, documentation discipline, and project risk practices.
- Support recognition mechanisms for timely closure of PHA actions and high-quality compliance outcomes.
Requirements
- B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong experience in process safety management, project risk management, and engineering coordination.
- Working knowledge of HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA, SIL, SIMOPS, FERA, HFE, ERP, PSSR, and MOC practices.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary stakeholders across engineering, operations, safety, maintenance, EPC, and consultancy functions.
- Experience in progress monitoring, documentation control, action tracking, and dashboard reporting.
- Familiarity with project execution phases such as pre-FEED, FEED, detailed engineering, implementation, and commissioning.
- Ability to work with schedules, milestones, critical paths, and baseline planning tools such as Primavera.
- Strong analytical, coordination, reporting, and training capability.
