Role Overview
Wills Bros is hiring a Quality Engineer for the West Apron Vehicle Underpass project at Dublin Airport. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to one of Ireland’s major infrastructure schemes, working in a secure, operational airport setting where high standards of quality, safety, and compliance are essential.
Key Responsibilities
The role focuses on quality management throughout complex civil and structural works, with responsibility for inspections, documentation, and coordination across the project team.
- Set up and maintain quality control processes across all phases of the works, including materials testing, workmanship checks, and alignment with design requirements.
- Conduct routine site inspections to confirm that construction activities meet project specifications, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
- Spot defects or quality non-conformances quickly and drive suitable corrective and preventive measures.
- Make sure all work is carried out in line with health, safety, environmental, and company standards.
- Keep detailed records of inspections, testing, and audits, and produce clear reporting for the project management team.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate handover records to support Safety File completion and interim handover milestones in accordance with project dates and specifications.
- Support the team in developing, maintaining, and implementing Inspection and Test Plans, quality checklists, and material approval processes.
- Liaise closely with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure strong communication and consistent quality delivery.
- Help improve quality systems and working practices across the project and the wider organisation.
- Stand in for the Quality Manager when required during periods of absence from site.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in civil engineering, with a strong emphasis on quality assurance and quality control, preferably on roads or major infrastructure projects.
- Good understanding of construction methods, construction materials, quality standards, ISO 9001, and Irish construction regulations.
- Experience using industry tools such as AutoCAD, MS Project, and quality management systems, plus familiarity with the ACC document management system.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English is required.
