Role overview
FlySafair is looking for a QA Auditor to support quality assurance activities within the aviation environment in Johannesburg. The position focuses on auditing, inspections, investigations, corrective action follow-up, reporting, and continuous improvement across relevant operational areas.
Key duties
- Carry out quality audits, investigations, and inspections in accordance with the Quality Assurance System.
- Document concerns or audit findings and collect supporting evidence.
- Review corrective action plans submitted by the audited department to confirm they are suitable.
- Check that root cause analysis properly addresses the findings.
- Escalate risks and findings through the appropriate reporting process, together with practical recommendations.
- Track and confirm that corrective actions are implemented within the required timelines.
- Support the ongoing maintenance of the IQSMS Quality Module.
- Work with SACAA and third-party auditors during inspections and audits covering AOC, AMO, DG, ATO, Simulator, and related areas.
- Assist with reviewing manuals prepared by process owners.
- Share quality-related updates periodically with Operational Training and Maintenance teams.
- Help coordinate applications for new routes.
- Participate in relevant meetings, including Quality Assurance forums.
- Assist in authorising and issuing company authorisations for the Technical department.
- Identify weaknesses in departmental quality control processes and suggest improvements.
- Take on additional tasks assigned by the Quality Manager.
- Stay current with industry developments and regulations, and continue building capability in the role.
- Help prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on QA activity across the organisation.
Qualifications and experience
- Matric / Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification is required.
- Certification as a Quality Auditor and Lead Auditor, including Root Cause Analysis training, is essential.
- A Degree or Diploma in Quality Management is advantageous.
- Safety Management Systems training is advantageous.
- At least 5 years of experience in auditing and in implementing and maintaining a Quality Management System in aviation is essential.
- Experience should cover the scopes ORG, FLT, MNT, SEC, DSP, CAB, GRH, and CGO.
- IOSA Auditor status is required.
- Technical aviation experience is advantageous.
- Experience working with a Safety Management System is required.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
- Familiarity with applicable regulatory requirements and SACAA CARs and CATs is required.
- Knowledge of IOSA ISARPs and quality management principles in aviation is required.
