About Women Impacting Nigeria
Women Impacting Nigeria (WIN) is a women-led nonprofit focused on improving Nigeria’s social and economic outcomes by supporting women and girls. The organization works to reduce gender gaps by expanding access to learning, income-generating opportunities, leadership growth, and policy environments that help women succeed. Through targeted programs and collaborations, WIN supports sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Role Overview
The Program Officer will be responsible for shaping, delivering, tracking, and strengthening initiatives that advance women’s economic empowerment and gender equality. This position calls for solid capability in program coordination, partner and stakeholder management, grant support, and monitoring and evaluation.
The selected candidate will manage priority programs while making sure activities are implemented effectively, remain sustainable, and stay aligned with the organization’s goals.
Program Strategy, Design, and Oversight
- Support the creation and improvement of programs that match WIN’s strategic direction and funding goals.
- Help ensure initiatives can grow, last over time, and deliver lasting value.
- Spot programs with strong performance that could be expanded and embedded more deeply within the organization.
- Oversee implementation to confirm activities stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with expected outputs and standard operating procedures.
- Build and follow work plans and implementation approaches.
Program Delivery and Learning
- Lead effective execution of WIN Academy, Digital Skills for Her, and similar initiatives.
- Keep learning programs inclusive, relevant to the labor market, and focused on measurable outcomes.
- Track participant results in areas such as employment readiness, entrepreneurship, income growth, and leadership development.
- Use participant feedback and lessons learned to improve program quality.
Partnership Development and Management
- Identify and evaluate strategic partners that fit WIN’s mission and objectives.
- Maintain productive relationships with partners, donors, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with preparing and rolling out partnership agreements, MOUs, and SLAs.
- Monitor partner commitments and follow up on deliverables.
- Represent WIN in meetings, collaborations, and relevant ecosystem events when needed.
Grant Support and Funding Readiness
- Research grant opportunities and contribute to proposal preparation.
- Help draft concept notes, proposals, logframes, budgets, and donor reports.
- Keep programs well-positioned for funding through strong documentation and evidence collection.
- Support compliance with donor rules and reporting expectations.
Budget Control and Financial Accountability
- Track assigned program budgets and spending.
- Work with the Finance team to maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Look for ways to improve cost efficiency without reducing program quality.
- Escalate financial concerns or budget deviations when necessary.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
- Assist in applying monitoring and evaluation systems and frameworks.
- Gather, organize, and interpret program data.
- Prepare reports, impact stories, and evidence that demonstrate results.
- Turn findings into practical recommendations for improvement and learning.
Risk Management and Quality Assurance
- Identify operational and program risks early and help reduce their impact.
- Ensure work follows internal policies, donor obligations, and quality standards.
- Escalate major issues that could affect organizational goals.
Team Coordination and Internal Support
- Coordinate work across the Programs, Communications, Finance, and M&E teams.
- Support activity tracking, reporting, and performance management processes.
- Guide junior colleagues and help foster a continuous improvement mindset.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree or HND in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Public Policy, or a closely related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in program coordination, project management, community development, nonprofit operations, partnership management, or a similar role.
- Background supporting training initiatives, events, stakeholder engagement, or other social impact work is preferred.
- Exposure to grant research, proposal development, or donor engagement will be an added advantage.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Excellent ability to write reports and deliver presentations.
- Strong planning, organization, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to handle several priorities at once and work to deadlines.
- Experience with monitoring and evaluation processes and data handling.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital collaboration platforms.
- Good understanding of gender equality, women’s empowerment, and Nigeria’s development context.
