About Yachad and The Orthodox Union
Yachad, a division of The Orthodox Union, is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual, developmental, and learning disabilities to participate more fully in Jewish life and society. We achieve this by providing opportunities in education, employment, and relationships. The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the United States, established in 1898. It supports a wide range of initiatives including synagogues, youth programs, advocacy, programs for individuals with disabilities, religious study, and international outreach. The OU also operates a widely recognized kosher certification service.
Position Summary
The Program Director is a vital member of the South Florida Yachad Leadership Team, reporting to the Regional Director. This role is responsible for the comprehensive planning, development, and execution of social, recreational, and community programs designed to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader passionate about community building, fostering relationships, and advancing Yachad's mission by creating meaningful and inclusive experiences while ensuring exceptional service delivery for participants, families, volunteers, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the planning, coordination, and execution of 3-4 weeknight and 1-2 weekend programs weekly.
- Actively participate in and lead 3-4 programs each week.
- Engage in outreach to parents and participants to drive program attendance and growth.
- Maintain the Yachad program database, including flyers, attendance records, and payment information.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise program support staff.
- Organize and manage transportation logistics for participants as required.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with 4-5 local schools, synagogues (shuls), and community organizations.
- Deliver 3 sensitivity training sessions annually.
- Recruit and effectively manage volunteers for various programs and events.
- Collaborate with educational institutions and religious communities to develop inclusive programming.
- Plan, coordinate, and attend 4-5 Shabbaton events throughout the year.
- Recruit and oversee advisors for each Shabbaton.
- Arrange necessary accommodation for participants and advisors during Shabbatons.
- Liaise with local synagogues and community partners to ensure a supportive Shabbaton experience.
- Monitor and record program expenses and process receipts.
- Maintain meticulous financial records for all programs and events.
- Process and track staff payments and reimbursements accurately.
- Ensure consistent participation from existing members within programs.
- Drive the recruitment of 25% new participants or members annually.
- Nurture ongoing relationships with current participants and their families.
- Develop strategies to re-engage participants who have reduced their attendance.
Qualifications
- A strong dedication to Yachad's mission and a passion for supporting Jewish individuals with disabilities.
- Proficiency in Jewish values and beliefs.
- Demonstrated experience in program development.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A creative and organized approach to work.
- Ability to work autonomously.
Additional Information
This position offers a salary range of $50,000 - $60,000, dependent on experience. The Orthodox Union provides comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance. Health coverage is facilitated through an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA), allowing employees to select their own plans with a significant employer contribution. A BeniComp stipend is provided for eligible medical, pharmaceutical, dental, and vision expenses. Group dental and vision insurance are offered through MetLife. Additional benefits include 10 paid sick days, 10-15 paid vacation days, paid Jewish and Federal holidays, shorter Fridays for Sabbath observance, complimentary life and disability insurance, discounted continuing education opportunities, and a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% employer match after 3 years of service (contingent on a minimum 2% employee contribution).
