Role overview
This is a permanent full-time driving role based in the Peterborough area, paying £13.00 per hour for 37.5 contracted hours. The position involves transporting pets to stores, with most shifts requiring overnight stays. Where overnight travel is needed, accommodation, fuel allowance, and food allowance are provided.
The role sits within a logistics and distribution team focused on ensuring pets are delivered safely and in line with high animal welfare standards.

What the job involves
- Acting as a cover driver, with weekly base locations changing as required.
- Working closely with the Pet Delivery Team to move pets into stores.
- Reporting to the Pet Delivery Manager / First Line Manager.
- Collaborating with pet operations management, pet health checkers, store colleagues, and other transport drivers.
- Carrying out pre-drive checks before starting the vehicle.
- Completing store deliveries safely, legally, and with animal welfare as a top priority.
- Coordinating van maintenance when needed.
- Using phone apps to complete process checks and required tasks.
- Providing a helpful, customer-focused approach and supporting team goals.
Experience and personal qualities
The ideal candidate should already have experience driving a 3.5-tonne vehicle, preferably a box van. They should be comfortable following detailed procedures carefully, be adaptable in both duties and working hours, and show a strong commitment to safe, considerate driving.
Being around small animals is an important part of the role, so previous ownership or comfort with close contact with small animals is preferred. A full, clean driving licence is also desirable.
