Operations Executive

Position summary

This role is focused on keeping day-to-day logistics activities running smoothly, with responsibility for moving cargo efficiently and coordinating execution across the shipment cycle.

Core responsibilities

• Oversee the shipment process from start to finish.
• Support operations for sea freight, road transport, and cross-border movements.
• Work closely with shipping lines, transport providers, and customers.
• Manage customs clearance activities and related procedures.
• Coordinate warehouse-related operations.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain shipping documents.
• Monitor shipment progress and keep clients informed.
• Address and resolve operational challenges as they arise.

Key competencies

• Solid grasp of supply chain principles.
• Practical knowledge of freight forwarding operations.
• Familiarity with customs processes and warehousing.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a well-organized working style.

Minimum requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in logistics or freight forwarding within Eastern Africa.
• Understanding of customs procedures for both local and transit movements.
• Knowledge of road networks and transit corridors across East Africa.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English and Swahili.
• Basic proficiency with computers.

• Documentation is accurate and complete.
• Clients remain satisfied with service delivery.
• Operations stay compliant with applicable regulations.
