Role overview
Squarespace is hiring a technically strong and highly organized security leader to run the daily work of its Detection and Incident Response function. Reporting to the VP of Security / CISO, this person will lead the organization’s SIEM and SOAR capabilities as well as the incident response program, while working closely with teams across the company to improve threat detection and response.
What you will do
- Help define, measure, and analyze security KPIs and KRIs for the broader security team.
- Create and execute a detection and response strategy and roadmap that supports business goals and fits the company’s risk appetite.
- Lead Security Operations Center activity, including monitoring, threat analysis, detection, and proactive hunting, with 24/7/365 coverage where needed.
- Own the performance and reliability of SIEM and SOAR tools, including data ingestion quality, alert tuning, and automated response workflows.
- Build and sustain a mature incident response program, including playbooks, major investigation leadership, and after-action reviews that feed continuous improvement.
- Plan and run tabletop exercises to validate readiness for different security incident scenarios.
- Act as Incident Commander during major security events and coordinate with Legal, Communications, and HR to support internal communication and compliance needs.
- Evaluate, select, and roll out security tools and technologies that strengthen detection, prevention, and response.
- Improve security operations through automation, tooling, and practical best practices.
- Track new threats, vulnerabilities, and industry shifts, then advise leadership on changes needed to strengthen security posture.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing security team while encouraging collaboration, accountability, and ongoing learning.
- Partner with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Legal, Compliance, and IT as a trusted security advisor.
- Manage third-party security vendors and partners to ensure strong service delivery and effective adoption of tools.
- Provide steady leadership during incidents so the team remains focused and stakeholders stay informed.
- Work with partner teams to launch new security initiatives and improve existing ones.
- Help define implementation approaches that strengthen security without hurting customer or employee experience.
- Increase the team’s operational speed and incident response efficiency.
What we are looking for
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7 years of cybersecurity experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or team lead position.
- Strong expertise in incident response and detection engineering.
- Solid understanding of cloud security operations, especially in AWS or GCP environments.
- Practical experience operating and tuning SIEM and SOAR platforms.
- Experience automating security workflows and response playbooks to reduce manual work.
- Working knowledge of security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and NIST.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to guide technical teams under pressure and explain complex threats to non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of software development, design, and technical operations.
Compensation and benefits
The cash compensation range for this role is €107,000 to €165,000 EUR. The final base salary depends on job-related factors such as relevant skills, experience, and location. In addition to cash compensation, eligible employees may receive stock option grants to purchase common stock.
