Maintenance Controller

Role Overview

This position sits within the Maintenance Operations team in the SIA Engineering Division. The selected candidate will report to the Manager, Maintenance Operations and will be responsible for delivering technical support around the clock to Technical Handling Agents who maintain Singapore Airlines and subsidiary airline aircraft at line stations.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep a constant watch on aircraft technical status in flight and identify any defects or other technical concerns as they arise.
• Provide expert technical guidance to flight crews while aircraft are airborne, and support Technical Handling Agents at overseas stations with instructions to correct defects at the earliest suitable ground opportunity.
• Coordinate with Technical Handling Agents to manage flights, delays, and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events.
• Partner with other Engineering teams, the SIA Operations Control Centre, and related SIA divisions to handle flight disruptions, delays, and AOG situations effectively.
• Identify, source, and monitor the usage and lending of AOG and station spares.
• Serve as the main Engineering contact point for day-to-day SIA operations.
• Investigate and resolve defects reported at line stations.
• Make sure all technical reference materials, in both printed and digital form, remain current and accurate.
• Oversee planned maintenance activity and unplanned rectification work on night-stopped and stayover aircraft.
• Prepare reports covering technical delays and aircraft ground incidents.

Requirements

• The applicant must be a Licensed Aircraft Engineer.
• Approximately 10 years of line maintenance experience is preferred.
• Strong people skills are needed, as the role involves regular coordination with multiple internal and external teams.
• Good organisational and planning ability, with the capacity to work independently.
• Well-developed analytical thinking and troubleshooting ability.
• Willingness and ability to work in a 24/7 shift-based arrangement.
• Comfortable using IT tools and systems.
