Job purpose

This position is focused on identifying, reviewing, and assessing merger and acquisition opportunities. The role includes conducting in-depth research and financial analysis, then translating those findings into an initial view of strategic alignment. All work must be performed in line with the company’s established policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess potential merger and acquisition opportunities by carrying out research and financial analysis, and by comparing their strategic fit at an early stage.
  • Create detailed financial models and valuation outputs for each transaction using widely accepted approaches such as discounted cash flow, trading multiples, and internal rate of return.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and outside stakeholders, taking a leadership role in supporting the successful delivery of M&A transactions and in helping maximize value for the Group.
  • Review the effect of proposed investments or divestments on the Group’s financial statements before any transaction is completed.
  • Use established investment and market tools, including Bloomberg and Capital IQ, to build business cases and support valuation work.
  • Provide valuation guidance to stc subsidiaries when they are evaluating possible acquisition targets.
  • Build and maintain an M&A and valuation database covering regional and global telecom and ICT peer trading multiples, transaction multiples, WACC inputs, and recent announced deals.
  • Take an active role in the full due diligence process, from selecting due diligence advisors through to transaction closing.

Experience profile

The role requires 7 to 9 years of relevant experience, specifically in finance and mergers and acquisitions within the telecom sector.

Education and certification

A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Investment is required, and a master’s degree in Finance or Investment is also listed. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification is included as an additional qualification.
