About Environment Bank

Environment Bank is focused on restoring natural habitats across England. Its work is already creating thousands of acres of new habitat, with the aim of improving biodiversity and helping ecosystems recover and thrive.

The organisation brings together a broad mix of specialists, including ecologists, land managers, habitat experts, geospatial analysts, planning advisors, account managers, digital creatives, legal professionals, and others. Across the business, teams are united by shared values and a common purpose: helping reverse biodiversity loss.

The company operates in a fast-expanding market and has already built a strong team of experts. It continues to grow and is looking for people who want to contribute to meaningful environmental impact.

Role Overview

This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover position and is a high-trust role at the centre of the leadership team. As Executive Assistant to the CEO, you will support the CEO as a strategic partner, helping manage time, priorities, and external relationships so leadership can stay focused on the most important decisions and conversations.

The role requires excellent judgement, strong discretion, and a proactive approach. Beyond diary management, you will be expected to anticipate needs, resolve issues before they escalate, and keep the CEO fully organised and prepared. You will also support diary and travel arrangements for the Chief Nature Officer and Chief Marketing Officer.

Executive Support

  • Oversee the CEO’s inbox and identify messages that need urgent attention.
  • Run a busy and changing schedule, coordinating internal and external meetings, speaking engagements, travel, and board commitments for the CEO, CNO, and CMO.
  • Serve as the main contact for the CEO’s office, handling incoming correspondence and prioritising requests appropriately.
  • Produce briefing notes, agendas, presentations, and background material so the CEO is well prepared for every meeting and engagement.
  • Write and refine communications on behalf of the CEO, including emails, letters, and stakeholder messages.

Board and Governance

  • Arrange and support Leadership Team and Board meetings, including board pack preparation, minute-taking, and action tracking; in-person attendance is not expected to be an urgent requirement.
  • Keep governance records up to date and support company secretarial compliance alongside the wider leadership team.

Stakeholder and Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as investors, government contacts, partners, and media contacts.
  • Represent the CEO’s office with professionalism, tact, and warmth in every interaction.

Operations and Projects

  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to support cross-functional coordination and keep key priorities moving forward.
  • Organise logistics for leadership offsites.
  • Handle expenses, invoices, and financial administration connected to the CEO and CNO.

Requirements

Strong candidates will bring established executive support experience, ideally having supported senior leaders in a fast-moving environment. You should be highly organised, meticulous, and able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and speaking. The role also calls for emotional intelligence, the ability to build trust quickly, and a strict commitment to confidentiality.

You will need to work well under pressure, adapt to shifting priorities, and operate independently without close supervision. Experience in remote or hybrid working environments is important, along with solid confidence using Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

It would be advantageous to have experience in an environmental, sustainability, or mission-led organisation, familiarity with board governance and company secretarial processes, and experience managing stakeholder relationships in regulated or public-facing sectors. Interest in nature recovery, biodiversity, and the UK environmental agenda is also welcomed. Some familiarity with London would be helpful for arranging lunch venues and meeting spaces.

Benefits

Environment Bank aims to offer a workplace that feels fulfilling, motivating, and balanced, with support for both personal and professional wellbeing. The package includes flexible working arrangements, mental wellbeing support, and other employee-focused benefits.

  • Annual performance bonus of up to 10% of salary.
