Engineer - Planning

Overview

AECOM is hiring a Planning Engineer in Dubai to support the delivery of complex infrastructure and building projects. The role focuses on building and managing project schedules, tracking progress, identifying risks, and helping project teams keep timelines under control. You will work closely with construction, design, procurement, commercial, and client-side stakeholders to support decision-making and project controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain detailed project schedules, including baseline, revised, and recovery programmes, using Primavera P6 or similar planning tools.
• Build master schedules, short-term look-ahead plans, and weekly/monthly progress updates with the project team.
• Compare actual progress with the approved baseline, flag delays, and assess effects on the critical path.
• Carry out schedule risk reviews, delay assessments, and time impact analyses in line with contract obligations.
• Work with construction, procurement, design, and commercial functions to keep timelines, resources, and deliverables aligned.
• Review contractor planning submissions, method statements, and manpower histograms for compliance with project requirements.
• Assist the Project Manager or Resident Engineer with planning inputs that support decisions and corrective actions.
• Prepare and assess Extension of Time claims, supporting delay positions with clear narratives and evidence.
• Follow procurement milestones, long-lead items, approvals, and permits to protect the programme.
• Develop recovery and mitigation strategies for delayed activities.
• Lead weekly and monthly planning discussions and circulate meeting minutes covering schedule actions.
• Coordinate cost, cash flow, and resource-loaded schedule integration when needed.
• Keep planning documentation complete and aligned with project controls and QA/QC procedures.
• Mentor junior planning engineers and site planners.
• Communicate with clients, consultants, and authorities on schedule-related topics.
• Support project close-out by producing as-built programmes and final planning reports.
