Role Overview
AXO is looking for a highly experienced Data Scientist to drive advanced analytics and machine learning work in Doha, Qatar. This onsite contract role focuses on building and deploying production-ready models and statistical systems that support large-scale utility operations.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold a master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or another strongly related quantitative field. A professional certification in advanced data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence is required, and the certification should be backed by practical deployment experience. The role calls for at least 13 years of advanced experience in analytics and statistical modeling, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked with utility data, smart grids, or AMI infrastructure.
Responsibilities
The selected professional will develop, validate, refine, and deploy machine learning models and advanced predictive or prescriptive statistical frameworks for improving large-scale grid utility operations. The role also involves applying sophisticated predictive analytics to big data streams from Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems.
In addition, the Data Scientist will create analytical models for anomaly detection, automated tamper detection alerts, grid load forecasting, and identifying non-technical infrastructure losses. The position requires delivering practical technical recommendations that improve data flow between Handshake-to-HES (Head-End System) and MDM (Meter Data Management) processes.
