About the Role
Deadpan is a comedy video agency built to help ambitious B2B brands break out of the usual dull marketing patterns. The team creates entertaining campaigns that make complex offers, uninspiring sectors, and generic messages feel fresh, memorable, and worth watching.
The company has produced work that has attracted millions of views, supported pipeline growth, and helped marketing teams stand out for reasons beyond yet another conventional explainer video. Its client list includes Vector, KlientBoost, Ahrefs, Swarmia, and LNER, and the team is expanding because demand continues to grow.
This is a remote contract role, expected to take around 2 to 3 days each week.
What You’ll Do
- Review or join client briefings and quickly understand campaign goals, audience needs, and business challenges.
- Investigate the target market, competing brands, and the pain points customers care about most.
- Invent original campaign concepts that are built for comedy-led advertising.
- Contribute ideas in creative workshops and collaborative sessions.
- Help shape concepts and present them both internally and, when needed, to clients.
- Turn approved ideas into polished scripts ready for production.
- Revise scripts in response to feedback and creative direction.
- Contribute to Deadpan’s expanding library of ideas, formats, and creative approaches.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal person is naturally funny and sees angles others often miss. This is less about doing stand-up and more about having a sharp, original way of looking at the world.
You should be able to take one brief and build several clearly different directions from it. Some projects will call for dry, deadpan humour, while others may need something more bold, disruptive, or challenger-brand in tone. The strongest candidates will adapt to each brand rather than applying the same style to every brief.
We’re looking for someone with a background in advertising, creative copywriting, screenwriting, comedy writing, or content creation who can convert briefs into compelling concepts, balance originality with business goals, write dialogue that sounds natural, and enjoy both pitching and discussing ideas. You should also be comfortable receiving feedback and strengthening your work through iteration.
Bonus Experience
- Previous work in an agency setting.
- A strong interest in comedy-led advertising, mockumentaries, sitcoms, and character-based humour.
- A habit of analysing why an advert works or feels funny, even when other people are just watching it casually.
How to Apply
Applicants should share a short introduction about themselves, any relevant work, scripts, or examples they can provide, and the funniest advert they have seen recently along with what made it work. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a creative task.
Working Pattern
This contract is remote and is expected to require approximately 2 to 3 days per week.
