Descrizione del lavoro
Role Overview
This is a full-time exempt staff position that blends project coordination with classroom teaching at TCAT Shelbyville. The role supports the President with institutional initiatives while also delivering Technology Foundations instruction to both adult learners and high school students. The ideal candidate will be equally effective managing work behind the scenes, working with data and reports, and leading a classroom.
Work Location and Schedule
This position is based across multiple campuses in Shelbyville, Winchester, and Fayetteville, Tennessee. Regular travel among all three campuses is required, and assignments may shift depending on instructional and project needs. The standard schedule is typically Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Two evening teaching assignments each week are required, and hours will be adjusted to remain within the standard weekly total.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $42,353 to $55,065 per year, with final pay determined by education and experience.
Project Coordination Responsibilities
Roughly 60% of the position is focused on coordinating institutional projects and supporting campus leadership. This includes planning initiatives, building timelines, monitoring deliverables, sharing updates with stakeholders, collecting and reporting data, assisting with grant-related paperwork, and helping organize special events. The work may involve accreditation projects, student success initiatives, institutional reporting, process improvement efforts, and other college-wide assignments. Strong accuracy, organization, and communication are important, as the role requires coordination across multiple departments and external partners.
Instructional Responsibilities
About 40% of the job is devoted to teaching Technology Foundations. Instruction is provided to adult and high school students at the Shelbyville, Winchester, and Fayetteville campuses. The coursework covers basic computer applications, digital literacy, and data interpretation. The instructor is also expected to administer and review assessments, monitor student progress, maintain records, support retention and completion efforts, keep learning materials up to date, and contribute to curriculum revisions. This teaching responsibility is a regular part of the job, not an occasional duty.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a closely related field. Relevant experience in project coordination, instruction, or administration is required, along with experience teaching basic reading, writing, or math skills. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication abilities are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. A valid driver’s license is also required.
Preferred Background
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in higher education or public-sector settings, teaching adult learners or foundational/technical courses, using project management or reporting tools, handling compliance-related work, or working with Learning Management Systems and Banner.
Benefits
The position includes a strong benefits package featuring a state retirement plan, a 401(k) with employer match, paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health and dental coverage, tuition assistance, and state employee discounts.
Application Process and Additional Conditions
Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the vacancy is filled. Candidates must submit an online application along with a resume, cover letter, transcripts, and any relevant certifications. Unofficial transcripts may be used during the hiring process, but official transcripts are required after selection.
All new hires will undergo a background check. Selected candidates must sign a release allowing verification that includes the Sex Offender Registry, driving history, county criminal records, national criminal records, federal criminal records, and sanctions and disciplinary databases.
Equal Opportunity Notice
The employer states that employment and programs are offered without discrimination based on race, color, religion, creed, ethnic or national origin, sex, disability, age, protected veteran status, or other categories protected by federal or state law and Tennessee Board of Regents policy.
