Role overview
This opportunity is shared on behalf of a partner company that oversees applications and the hiring process. The employer is seeking a Technical Recruiter focused on defense technology, based in the United States.
The role is designed for someone who can make a real impact by helping a fast-moving organization grow its team for advanced AI work tied to national security and defense use cases. You will manage recruiting from start to finish for highly specialized technical positions, while also supporting People Operations efforts that improve the broader employee experience. Working alongside hiring managers and People leadership, you will help shape hiring strategy, strengthen candidate experience, and build processes that can scale as the company expands. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building structure, adapting quickly, and contributing across the employee lifecycle in a collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of end-to-end hiring for complex technical roles, including Software Engineering, AI/ML, Data Science, and Operations Research.
- Work closely with hiring managers and People leaders to clarify hiring needs, align on candidate profiles, and support timely, high-quality hiring decisions.
- Develop and nurture pipelines of passive technical candidates, especially those with backgrounds in AI, defense technology, and security-cleared work.
- Improve the applicant journey by strengthening interview flow, communication, and feedback loops throughout recruitment.
- Assist with onboarding efforts so new hires can ramp up smoothly and become effective quickly.
- Spot opportunities to improve People Operations workflows, documentation, and efficiency across the employee lifecycle.
- Help create scalable recruiting and HR practices that support ongoing organizational growth.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in technical recruiting, preferably in high-growth startups or fast-paced technology companies.
- Demonstrated ability to run recruiting processes from intake through offer and hiring.
- Background hiring for technical disciplines such as Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or similar fields.
- Interest in People Operations and willingness to contribute beyond recruiting into broader HR work.
- Strong organizational ability, sharp attention to detail, and comfort balancing several priorities at once.
- Ability to work effectively in changing, uncertain environments while helping build scalable processes from scratch.
- Experience recruiting for roles involving security clearances or in defense technology, government contracting, or national security is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems such as Greenhouse and exposure to PEO environments is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
