Role overview
Richmond Day is hiring a Technical Manager for a full-time position in Toronto, Ontario. This is an on-site role focused on guiding technical initiatives from planning through delivery, with an emphasis on meeting client expectations, timelines, and budget targets.
The position brings together project leadership, technical coordination, and team support across digital products, tools, and platforms. The person in this role will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to keep work moving smoothly, address issues promptly, and maintain quality throughout the development cycle.
What you will do
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects end to end.
- Ensure solutions are aligned with client objectives, schedules, and cost constraints.
- Coordinate work across technical, design, and other cross-functional teams.
- Review technical requirements and specifications to support accurate implementation.
- Partner with stakeholders to clarify needs and shape project direction.
- Track scope, staffing, and resource allocation across active projects.
- Monitor product quality, performance, and delivery risks during development and launch.
- Mentor team members and contribute to a constructive, collaborative working environment.
- Support process and tool improvements that strengthen delivery efficiency.
- Share status updates, risks, and key progress points with internal leaders and clients.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in a comparable role, backed by a portfolio that includes successful website and custom application launches.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong analytical ability and comfort using data to support technical decisions and solve problems.
- Demonstrated people leadership skills, including coaching, feedback, and team development.
- Practical technical troubleshooting experience with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly.
- Exposure to research and development work, including assessing new technologies and recommending practical solutions.
- Solid project management capability, including scoping, scheduling, resource planning, and risk control.
- Experience managing technical work in a marketing agency, digital agency, or software development setting.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Working knowledge of web technologies, digital platforms, APIs, CMS tools, version control, and modern development workflows is an advantage.
- On-site presence is mandatory.
