The organisation focuses on creating smart steel products and solutions that support communities now and into the future. Its well-known brands, including COLORBOND® steel, are used to inspire and protect important structures such as hospitals, bridges, and stadiums.

The Opportunity

BlueScope Building Components has several openings for Team Members to join the production team in Novar Gardens. This business unit, part of BlueScope in Australia, produces and sells steel building products, solutions, and services through brands such as Lysaght, Fielders, and Ranbuild.

No prior experience in manufacturing or operations is required. Full on-the-job training and ongoing support will be provided, making this a great opportunity to build a long-term career.

The company welcomes people from varied backgrounds and values different skills, life experiences, and occupations. It is committed to an inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected and supported. Flexible working arrangements may be available through the B-flex program where operationally possible. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Work Pattern

These are full-time, permanent positions with a weekly pay rate starting at $1,061.72 and reaching up to $1,124.80 depending on skills and experience. The role includes eligibility for overtime, public holiday pay, and a quarterly bonus.

The operation runs 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, with day, afternoon, and night shift options. Afternoon shift includes a 15% loading, while night shift includes a 30% loading.

Shift timings are as follows:

  • Day shift: 6:30 am to 2:30 pm
  • Afternoon shift: 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm
  • Night shift: 10:30 pm to 6:30 am, starting on Sunday evenings

Role Overview

You will be part of a team manufacturing high-quality steel products, with a strong emphasis on safety and precision so that output is delivered on time and to a high standard.

Key Duties

  • Help maintain and promote a safe working environment
  • Operate machinery used in product processing and manufacturing
  • Use equipment such as forklifts and cranes
  • Pack, strap, and inspect finished goods for quality

The job involves manual handling and lifting, and it is based in a manufacturing setting where noise and seasonal temperature variations should be expected. Training, support, and the necessary equipment will be provided to help you work safely and effectively.

About You

Previous experience in operations or manufacturing is not essential. The company is looking for people who are eager to learn and contribute positively as part of a team.

Ideal candidates will be safety-focused, communicate well, work cooperatively with others, and bring a positive, adaptable attitude to shift-based work. A forklift licence will need to be obtained, with support from the employer. Respect for others, appreciation for diversity, and comfort in a fast-paced environment are also important.

Equal Opportunity Statement

This vacancy is being advertised as a special measure under section 65 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA) to advance substantive equality and address underrepresentation. All suitably qualified applicants are welcome, but preference will be given to suitably qualified female candidates in recognition of the current gender imbalance in this area.

Recruitment Process

The selection process is designed to help both the company and applicants learn more about each other. It includes:

  • Submitting an application
  • Completing an online assessment
  • Attending an online information session on Wednesday, 15 July 2026
  • Attending a face-to-face assessment centre and site tour on Tuesday, 21 July 2026 or Wednesday, 22 July 2026
  • Completing a pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol screen, as well as reference checks if selected

Applicants should keep themselves available for the information session and assessment centre, as both are important parts of the hiring process.

Closing Date
