Role Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Maintenance Planner, Specialist Operations – Maintenance to support production maintenance planning and coordination. This position focuses on organizing maintenance work, aligning resources, and helping manufacturing run safely and efficiently. The right person will take strong ownership of tasks, work well independently, adapt quickly in a changing environment, and bring a detail-focused approach. Prior exposure to GMP, Environmental Monitoring (EM), and SOP-driven operations is helpful, and applicants from food manufacturing backgrounds may also be considered if they can learn and apply these practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize, sequence, and coordinate production maintenance activities to enable safe and efficient manufacturing operations.
- Prepare work in advance by creating job plans, task breakdowns, material needs, inventory checks, permits, and resource schedules.
- Use CMMS/SAP tools to coordinate work across a multi-skilled technician group.
- Handle pre-job preparation, shutdown coordination, vendor involvement, and permitting needs.
- Review production work requests, define the exact maintenance scope, and make sure the intended task is clearly understood.
- Build and maintain preventive maintenance and calibration calendars.
- Monitor planned and urgent work orders through to closure and ensure system records are updated correctly and on time.
- Record maintenance work, equipment modifications, completed PMs, and the parts consumed.
- Create detailed shutdown plans and schedules, then track execution progress with all relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare recurring reports on schedule compliance, maintenance results, and trend patterns, and suggest improvements where appropriate.
- Keep maintenance records, workflows, and job plans accurate and up to date in SAP Plant Maintenance.
- Oversee maintenance vendors in accordance with contractor control requirements and company procedures.
- Help maintain EHS compliance by ensuring work follows Energy Control Procedures, Job Safety Analysis, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
- Take part in continuous improvement efforts, including failure analysis, change control, and Kaizen activities.
- Assist with audits and inspections to ensure the department remains ready and compliant.
- Follow global policies, regulatory obligations, and current Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Help build a safe, compliant, and team-oriented workplace culture.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Trade qualification at national craft certificate level 6, or a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, ideally in science, engineering, or another technical field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar production maintenance or engineering role within a manufacturing environment, preferably GMP-regulated.
- Experience working in a fast-moving, high-pressure setting.
- Working knowledge of instrumentation, mechanical maintenance, and electrical maintenance tasks.
- Hands-on experience with maintenance systems such as CMMS or CCMS.
- Strong written reporting and presentation abilities.
- Comfortable delegating tasks to team members while working as an individual contributor.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, understand vendor documentation, and follow site policies and SOPs.
- Self-motivated with a strong finish-through approach.
- Experience using structured root-cause tools such as One Way Problem Solving, FMEA, Fishbone diagrams, and the 5 Whys.
