Civil Engineer – Construction Projects

About the Role

An experienced Civil Engineer is needed to lead construction assignments from early planning right through to execution and final handover. The role focuses on delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with quality and regulatory expectations.

Role Overview

This position involves planning, coordinating, and supervising civil works across structural, finishing, infrastructure, and fit-out scopes. It calls for solid technical knowledge, project coordination ability, and the confidence to work closely with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to achieve smooth delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct civil works across several construction projects.
• Check site activities to make sure they follow approved drawings, project specifications, and scope requirements.
• Manage construction tasks from project launch until completion and handover.
• Examine engineering drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and related project documents.
• Track schedules, budgets, quality targets, and milestone progress to keep delivery on course.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and authorities as needed.
• Carry out regular inspections to confirm work matches approved plans and accepted industry practice.
• Assess contractor performance and ensure contractual and specification compliance.
• Spot risks, recommend preventive actions, and resolve technical or construction issues.
• Ensure all work aligns with UAE construction rules, Dubai Municipality standards, and HSE requirements.
• Review and sign off material submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and technical submissions.
• Prepare progress updates, technical summaries, cost estimates, and reports for management.
• Assist with tendering, contractor assessment, and procurement-related activities.
• Keep project records organized, including permits, approvals, inspections, and documentation.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical support and direction to project teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution and bring 5–8 years of UAE civil construction experience. Experience across residential, commercial, mixed-use, or infrastructure developments is important. Strong knowledge of construction methods, structural work, concrete work, finishing work, and end-to-end project execution is expected. Familiarity with UAE building regulations, Dubai Municipality rules, and HSE standards is required. The role also requires working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office. Strong planning, project management, problem-solving, organization, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills are essential. Arabic and English fluency is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification or a comparable project management credential is preferred.
• Membership in a recognized engineering body is an added advantage.
• Background in managing large-scale construction developments in the UAE is desirable.
• Good understanding of contract administration, project controls, and construction procurement is beneficial.
