Role overview
Sodexo is hiring a motivated Business Development Manager to join its Brisbane, Queensland team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role focuses on expanding business within the Energy & Resources segment by creating new opportunities, improving client relationships, and shaping bid approaches that support the company’s goals around innovation and sustainability.
What you will do
- Build and keep a healthy pipeline of opportunities for the Energy & Resources segment.
- Track and manage prospects in the sales system, ensuring the bid pipeline is up to date.
- Connect with the right decision-makers in client organisations to understand their needs and upcoming projects.
- Work with clients, prospects, investors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to support new project development and partnership building.
- Strengthen relationships with aligned partners to enhance local reputation, credibility, and profitable growth.
- Gather and share market intelligence using a structured, value-focused approach to spot opportunities, understand client priorities, and monitor competitors.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Energy and Resources market across APAC.
- Identify organic growth opportunities in existing contracts in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Take ownership of new sales, cross-bids, and re-bids by preparing, presenting, and managing tender and proposal responses.
- Support the development and delivery of strategic business plans, initiatives, and actions to meet new business targets.
- Explore, test, refine, and promote new products and concepts to create fresh business opportunities.
- Prepare financial and commercial proposals in line with finance procedures, capital expenditure rules, and approval processes.
- Maintain strong post-award relationships with clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle, supporting the “clients for life” approach.
- Help grow and protect the Sodexo brand.
What we are looking for
- A background in hospitality and facilities management would be an advantage.
- A degree or postgraduate qualification in Business, Marketing, Technical, or another related commercial field.
- Strong negotiation ability with a solid history of winning new business.
- Active involvement in industry bodies, conferences, and seminars.
- Proven experience using and improving business processes.
- Hands-on experience supporting and managing complex tenders.
- Good commercial awareness and financial judgment.
- The ability to uncover a prospect’s needs through thoughtful questioning and active listening.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, plus prior experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM platform.
