Job summary
This role supports research, analysis, and reporting across healthcare and operational data to help drive informed decisions, cost management efforts, and stronger business performance. The position works with large and varied datasets such as claims, pharmacy, laboratory, and operational information to build, check, and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical tools. It also involves partnering with internal teams to understand needs, improve reporting workflows, and keep data accurate, consistent, and easy to use.
Key responsibilities
- Review healthcare and operational data to uncover patterns, outliers, and areas where performance can be improved.
- Create, verify, and maintain both recurring and ad hoc reporting using SQL, Excel, BI tools, and related analytics platforms.
- Structure, document, and manage datasets and reporting processes across several business functions.
- Build dashboards, queries, and reporting outputs that support utilization review, cost control, and operational metrics.
- Summarize analysis findings into clear recommendations for business partners and stakeholders.
- Support regulatory, contractual, and enterprise reporting obligations, including state-required submissions.
- Improve existing reports and reporting procedures by identifying fixes and enhancements.
- Work with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and keep reports and projects on schedule.
- Assist with special analyses and data requests from internal teams and outside agencies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or healthcare analytics, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience.
- Strong ability to solve problems by interpreting complex data, spotting trends, and turning results into practical insights.
- Good working knowledge of SQL, Excel, and analytics/reporting tools, with the ability to pick up new technologies quickly.
- High attention to detail for data validation, report creation, and documentation accuracy.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills for clarifying requirements and presenting results to different groups.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with SSRS, Crystal Reports, MedInsight, or similar reporting tools.
- Understanding of healthcare utilization measures, medical cost analysis, and performance indicators.
- Exposure to predictive modeling ideas and trend forecasting.
- Microsoft certification or a comparable technical credential.
Compensation and benefits
The employer offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The posted annual pay range is $49,430 to $107,098. Actual pay may differ depending on location, work experience, education, and skill level.
