Processing Officer

Role overview

This position sits within the Taranaki Operations Centre in New Plymouth, where the team sorts, combines, and prepares parcels and freight for courier delivery. The work supports NZ Post’s wider mission to move items across New Zealand efficiently, with a strong focus on teamwork, technology, and accurate handling.

Work schedule and pay

• Hourly rate: $26.75, effective from 1 July 2026
• Availability needed: Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 6:15pm
• Role arrangement: on-call, working as required
• Location: 2 Smart Road, New Plymouth

What you will be doing

You will help keep parcel flow moving by processing, sorting, consolidating, and dispatching freight so couriers can deliver on time. The role is hands-on, fast paced, and part of a team environment.

• You can commit to the stated weekday afternoon hours and on-call arrangement
• You work well with others and help maintain a safe site for everyone
• You are comfortable with physically demanding work and can lift up to 25 kg
• You have strong attention to detail and sound knowledge of local geography
