Operator

Role overview

The Operator will be responsible for running and observing process plant and facility operations in the designated area, ensuring work is performed according to approved operating procedures and the company’s health, safety, and environmental standards.

Plant operations

• Perform assigned operational tasks safely and in line with standard operating procedures.
• Inspect equipment routinely to spot any irregularities, report defects, and coordinate with the supervisor for servicing arrangements.
• Manage and fine-tune operating conditions such as speed, temperature, pressure, and flow so shutdown and start-up activities are completed effectively.
• Prepare plant and equipment for maintenance work so that systems function correctly and remain synchronized with connected equipment.
• Receive chemicals, keep stock and usage records, and prepare required chemical batches while following established procedures and HSE rules.
• Run related machinery and equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company standards and instructions.
• Follow all safety, quality, and environmental requirements to support employee safety, legal compliance, product/service quality, and responsible environmental practices.
• Obtain permits to work, monitor ongoing jobs, and oversee contractor activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
• Take on Auxiliary Fireman or Site Safety Officer duties during emergencies when required, in line with the facility response plan.
• Carry out the supervisor’s instructions promptly and safely.
• Prepare key performance indicator checklists for management review.

• Apply all relevant functional policies, standards, systems, and procedures to meet operational goals.

Training and development

• Support on-the-job training initiatives under competency-based training programs for UAE nationalization.

Continuous improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve operating practices and functional processes.

Health, safety, environment, and sustainability

• Follow HSE policies, procedures, controls, legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and company code requirements.
• Participate in emergency response activities as part of the team.

Housekeeping

• Keep the work area clean and organized before and during operations, following hygiene and housekeeping standards.

Reporting and communication

• Contribute inputs for section progress reports for management.
• Prepare KPI checklists for management use.
• Maintain working relationships with managers, peers, and other employees within the company/group as needed.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders such as consultants, third-party service providers, and government agencies when required.

Qualification and experience

A technical diploma in a relevant discipline or a secondary school certificate is required. The role calls for 4 years of experience in plant operations within a large industrial plant in the oil and gas sector.

Work conditions

The role involves minimal physical effort. The working environment is primarily air-conditioned, though occasional site visits may involve exposure to heat, humidity, and dust.
