Role overview

Nine is looking for a driven Junior Data Analyst to join its Programmatic Trading team in Sydney. In this position, you will work alongside senior analysts to help manage daily data operations, produce regular reporting, and track performance trends across the company’s digital inventory.

The role is centred on maintaining data accuracy, handling large and complex datasets, and learning how AI-enabled tools can improve commercial workflows and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day data checks for digital advertising platforms by comparing records in Excel and SQL to ensure the information is correct.
  • Build and update recurring daily and weekly tracker reports and dashboards using Excel-based templates to monitor performance metrics.
  • Use formulas, pivot tables, and other Excel tools to clean, organise, and restructure large vendor data files for analysis.
  • Examine ad-serving and revenue reports to identify inconsistencies, missing values, or unusual patterns, and escalate more complex issues when needed.
  • Work on focused analytical tasks related to inventory optimisation and help shape yield-related strategies with technical input.
  • Develop an understanding of newly introduced AI tools and how they can be applied to streamline processing and automate routine operational work.

What you’ll need

  • A tertiary qualification in business, commerce, analytics, mathematics, statistics, or another relevant quantitative field.
  • Previous academic or internship exposure that shows strong analytical ability and genuine interest in digital advertising.
  • Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel, including sorting large datasets, building pivot tables, and using formulas effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability, with confidence turning raw numbers into practical insights.
  • Strong interest in AI and how it can be used to automate and improve commercial operations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for working with internal stakeholders.
  • Any exposure to digital advertising basics or tools such as Domo, SQL, or Google Sheets will be an advantage.

Additional information

Nine’s working arrangements vary by role and team. Depending on the position, flexible hours, hybrid arrangements, or part-time options may be available. Flexibility requirements can be discussed during the hiring process.

Employee benefits

  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave available to both primary and secondary carers.
  • Access to an employee-exclusive program with special experiences, behind-the-scenes access, and other brand-related perks.
  • A digital newspaper subscription for Nine’s mastheads.
  • An annual gift voucher for a Stan subscription.
