Role overview

This on-site cleaning position is based in Ottawa, Ontario, and nearby areas. The role may be part-time or full-time. The Cleaner will carry out detailed residential cleaning and help maintain tidy, healthy living spaces using safe, non-toxic products.

Key duties

• Clean homes thoroughly, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
• Sanitize bathrooms and kitchens, and disinfect surfaces as needed.
• Organize and straighten living areas, remove garbage, and clean appliances and fixtures.
• Follow each client’s preferences and use the provided cleaning checklist or plan.
• Handle cleaning supplies and equipment safely and responsibly.
• Maintain privacy, professionalism, and respect in trauma-informed settings.
• Flag maintenance concerns or safety hazards when noticed.
• Communicate clearly and kindly with clients and with the team.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential or commercial cleaning, including safe handling of cleaning products and equipment, is expected.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail, manage time well, and work from structured checklists or plans.
• Comfort working with sensitivity, confidentiality, and a trauma-informed mindset. Training will be provided for trauma-informed care, confidentiality, and sensitive environments.
• Dependable, punctual, and capable of working both independently and with a small team.
• Physical fitness to stand, bend, lift, and move equipment for long periods.
• Good communication and listening skills, plus openness to feedback and different household needs.
• Background in support work, caregiving, community service, or a similar field is an advantage.
• A valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation in Ottawa are helpful, though not mandatory.
