Role Purpose

This position is responsible for handling aircraft and structural fire situations, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and other emergency events within the airport. The role focuses on protecting passengers, crew members, staff, and property through firefighting, rescue support, and emergency medical assistance.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will respond quickly to aircraft-related incidents, structural fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous material events across airport premises. The role also includes carrying out firefighting, rescue activities, and emergency medical support to safeguard people and assets.

Fire suppression duties involve using suitable methods and agents such as water, foam, dry chemical, and other firefighting materials to control and extinguish flames. The role also requires search-and-rescue work in smoke-affected or otherwise dangerous environments.

Emergency care responsibilities include giving first aid and basic life support until advanced medical teams reach the scene, as well as assisting in patient transfer to medical facilities when required.

Operational preparedness is a key part of the job. This includes conducting daily checks and upkeep of fire vehicles, extinguishers, and personal protective equipment, as well as monitoring inventory levels of fire and rescue supplies to ensure readiness. The role also involves participating in emergency simulations, ICAO-required training sessions, and fire drills, while keeping accurate incident reports, training logs, and shift records for audits.

Compliance duties require following all applicable local, state, and central regulations, along with airport SOPs for firefighting and emergency response. The position also calls for identifying risks during inspections and patrols, taking immediate corrective action where needed, and submitting complete and accurate logs and reports.

Coordination with airport operations, medical teams, and external emergency agencies is an important part of the role. The firefighter will work closely with the Duty Manager, ATC, and airport authorities during emergencies and drills.

Stakeholders

Internal: Duty Manager - ARFF, Airport Operations Team, Airport Security, Emergency Medical Services, ARFF Crew Members, Engineering & Maintenance Team, and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Team.

External: Local Fire Services Department, airlines operating at the airport, ground handling companies, ARFF equipment manufacturers/service providers, insurance companies, local community leaders, and civil aviation authorities.

Qualifications

A Diploma in Fire Fighting Technology or an equivalent qualification is required. The candidate must also hold certification from an accredited firefighting academy.

Experience

Applicants should have 2 to 3 years of firefighting experience, preferably in aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) operations.
