Overview
Join a locally owned and operated pharmacy where you will support health, beauty, and convenience services for the community while keeping the customer experience at the center of your work.
This position is responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations while on shift, offering guidance to customers and healthcare professionals, working within full professional scope, dispensing medications, and helping maintain the dispensary.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist every customer who comes to the pharmacy.
- Work in line with federal, provincial, regulatory, and legal obligations.
- Protect privacy at all times, including confidentiality and consent-related processes.
- Counsel customers on prescription medicines and over-the-counter or behind-the-counter products.
- Deliver professional services to the fullest extent allowed by your scope and qualifications.
- Remain clearly identifiable to the public as the pharmacist on duty.
- Check that all prescriptions are dispensed accurately and appropriately.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as part of the circle of care.
- Keep all required records according to legislation, professional standards, and internal policy.
- Manage access to the dispensary to safeguard inventory and patient confidentiality.
- Monitor workflow queues each day and keep them current.
- Regularly review will-call bins according to standard procedures.
- Inspect stock for expired inventory and manage medication ordering from the wholesaler.
- Ensure all documentation and controls for regulated substances meet legal and reporting requirements.
- Keep pickup, counselling, waiting, and work areas organized and professional in appearance.
- Support financial reporting activities as needed.
- Review and respond to internal store communications.
- Prepare incident reports for customer or staff medication incidents and privacy issues.
Required Experience and Skills
- Ability to think independently and make decisions when issues arise.
- Capability to plan, coordinate, delegate, and coach pharmacy team members.
- Strong drive to grow the business and support company programs by leading through example.
- Commitment to excellent customer service.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional approach.
- Good problem-solving ability, including creating and executing action plans.
- Comfort using computers and pharmacy software systems.
- Commitment to health and safety practices for a safe working environment.
- Willingness to complete required training and optional continuing education as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
The hiring range for this role is $48.00 to $62.15 per hour. Pay may vary depending on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and the geographic location of the job.
