Network Engineer

About the Role

Vopak is hiring a Network Engineer to support its Singapore Regional Hub within a global infrastructure team. The position plays an important part in strengthening and scaling regional infrastructure across both standard corporate IT systems and industrial OT (Operational Technology) environments.

The role focuses on maintaining reliable network performance across Greenfield and Brownfield initiatives, with accountability for the full network path from the end user’s device through to the application server.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee network and security operations across Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco Wireless, and Cisco Catalyst Center, along with the Fortinet environment including FortiManager, FortiClient EMS, and FortiClient.
• Carry out advanced Fortinet configuration work such as VDOMs, NPU links, high availability setups, 802.3ad aggregate interfaces, and zoning.
• Handle firewall policy updates, Virtual IPs, SNAT/DNAT, and security controls such as web filtering and SSL/SSH inspection.
• Follow incident and change workflows through ServiceNow, ensuring every network modification is recorded, approved, and completed in line with global ITIL practices.
• Create and maintain secure IPsec VPN tunnels and SSL VPN access for regional connectivity.
• Investigate difficult issues across the network stack using tools such as TCPdump, Wireshark, and iperf, from user endpoints through to application servers.
• Keep global infrastructure under continuous watch using the PRTG monitoring platform.
• Support deployments and operations for both new implementations and upgrade or migration projects.
• Manage physical network needs, including copper and fiber cabling, single-mode and multimode fiber, and selection of suitable fiber transceivers.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong command of core networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, ARP, MAC addressing, routing, and SD-WAN.
• Working understanding of OT environments and the Purdue Model.
• Relevant networking certifications such as Cisco CCNA or CCNP and Fortinet FCP (NSE4) or FCSS (NSE7).
• A strong safety-first approach, especially when operating in industrial zones such as Jurong Island.
• Ability to collaborate across multicultural teams working in multiple time zones and share knowledge proactively.
• Flexibility to move between configuration work and hands-on field tasks, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
• Clear communication skills for coordination with both global IT teams and on-site OT personnel.
• Willingness to travel within Singapore, including industrial areas such as Jurong Island and Penjuru Road, for troubleshooting and project work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including deep packet analysis for performance and connectivity issues.
