Role overview
This position is responsible for making sure all manned and unmanned subsea activities are executed in accordance with international codes, classification society rules, flag-state requirements, local laws, and internal company procedures. The role also includes building and running a strong program for checking and monitoring personnel, equipment, and contractors, with the aim of lowering major risk exposure across all subsea work.
The position calls for a proactive mindset, strong organizational ability, and solid knowledge of underwater operations so that department work is properly supported, documented, and delivered safely. While the role operates within established policies and procedures, it also demands effective communication and practical problem-solving.
Scope of the role:
- Vessels supported: 1+
- Contracts supported: 2+
- People supervised: 1 direct report and 25+ indirect offshore contractors
- Annual audits: 10+
HSE responsibilities
- Build and sustain a workplace culture that actively prevents incidents.
- Ensure that every activity under this role follows the company’s HSE policy.
- Recommend, apply, and track measures and technologies that help meet the company’s greenhouse gas reduction goals.
- Lead investigations and reporting for subsea-related incidents, with clear root-cause identification and lesson capture.
Financial responsibilities
- Support the Head of Marine & Subsea with budgeting and forecasting so spending stays within approved business plans.
- Promote a cost-conscious mindset that supports long-term value.
- Drive improvements in cost efficiency within the area of responsibility.
Operational responsibilities
- Act as the company Subsea TRP, supporting stakeholders, setting company standards, and approving technical deviations.
- Promote solution-focused communication and build alignment among key stakeholders to resolve issues quickly.
- Provide subsea operations expertise in support of activities defined in the Logistics Charter.
- Ensure that CMS rules, standards, policies, and guidance for subsea personnel, equipment, and operations are established, implemented, and monitored in line with international regulations, standards, classification society requirements, flag-state rules, local regulations, company procedures, and industry best practice.
- Set up and monitor a strong vetting and assurance process so that all personnel and subsea equipment mobilized for or by the company meet all required compliance obligations.
- Manage contractors effectively so procedural and contractual requirements are consistently met.
- Support tender activity by helping define technical requirements and contributing to technical evaluations.
- Assist operational changes by delivering practical solutions that improve reliability and efficiency.
- Develop and present KPI reports covering equipment and contractor performance against contractual expectations.
- Keep the N+1 regularly updated on key highlights, risks, concerns, and trends.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams and stakeholders on operational standards, safety protocols, and best practices related to subsea operations and chartering activity.
- Represent the company in industry forums focused on manned and unmanned subsea operations.
- Take part in crisis response training and support emergency response activities when required.
Work environment
The role is based onshore at the company’s Doha head office and is on a residential basis. Frequent offshore and international travel is required.

Education and experience
A minimum qualification of IMCA Air & Bell Diving Supervisor is required. The role calls for 10 years of operational experience in manned and unmanned subsea operations supporting the oil and gas industry, including 5 years in a Diving Supervisor, Superintendent, or Construction Manager role. The successful candidate should also have experience with IMCA design and client audits, strong knowledge of industry guidance and best practice such as IMCA, IOGP, DMAC, and IMO, and hands-on experience in assurance and competency processes.
