About the Role
Dynacare is hiring a Specimen Processing Laboratory Assistant for its London, Ontario site. This position plays an important part in supporting laboratory operations by handling specimens accurately, entering requisitions and results in a timely way, and completing quality control checks in line with established standards. The work directly supports downstream clinical decisions and treatment that can affect patients’ lives.
This is a permanent, full-time role with guaranteed 37.5 hours per week. The scheduled shift is evenings, from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday through Friday, plus rotating Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The job is based at 245 Pall Mall Street, London, ON, N6A 1P4, within the Laboratory and Health Services Centre discipline. There is one opening available, it is an existing vacancy, and the expected start is as soon as possible. The internal posting deadline is June 28, 2026.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out specimen processing tasks according to established laboratory procedures.
- Accurately identify, label, and enter specimen-related data and requisitions.
- Follow required procedures for unsuitable or problematic samples.
- Respond to client questions and concerns in a courteous, professional manner.
- Handle other duties as assigned by the team or supervisor.
What You Bring
- Secondary school completion plus a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program.
- Previous experience delivering professional, customer-focused service in a busy and fast-changing setting.
- Strong ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate in a team-oriented, high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Working knowledge of laboratory procedures, with the ability to use that knowledge to troubleshoot issues and suggest practical solutions.
- Familiarity with AS400 data entry systems or LIS is an advantage.
Working Conditions
The role includes work in both office and medical laboratory settings. It involves regular walking and repetitive movements, along with periods of sitting or standing and extensive computer use. You may be required to lift up to 30 pounds. The position also involves exposure to biohazardous materials, temperature changes, and varying noise levels.
Compensation
The hourly pay range is $19.75 to $23.50. The final offer will depend on factors such as experience and education.
