About the Organization
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) was created under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and operates under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is responsible for setting and enforcing science-based food standards to safeguard public health and protect consumer interests. The authority oversees the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import of food products across India, while also driving awareness through education, training, and capacity-building efforts. Its long-term goal is to ensure access to safe, nutritious, and high-quality food for every citizen through strong regulation and scientific governance.
Role Summary
The Joint Director will be responsible for leading departmental activities, supporting policy and program execution, and ensuring that all work within the division aligns with statutory requirements and organizational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage departmental functions so they remain aligned with the organization’s objectives and regulatory obligations.
- Contribute to the design, rollout, and tracking of policies, programs, and strategic initiatives.
- Liaise with government bodies, public sector entities, and other stakeholders on allocated assignments.
- Oversee administrative, operational, and technical work across the assigned division.
- Examine reports, proposals, and project results to confirm they meet organizational benchmarks.
- Guide subordinate officers and team members to help ensure responsibilities are delivered effectively.
- Track project progress and suggest corrective measures when performance gaps are identified.
- Support senior leadership by preparing analysis and reports that aid decision-making.
- Make sure work follows relevant laws, regulations, and government instructions.
- Represent the organization in meetings, consultations, and inter-departmental forums.
