Housekeeper

Role overview

Ciel Senior Living is looking for a Housekeeper in Olney, MD. This hourly position reports to the Maintenance team or the Executive Director. The role focuses on keeping community spaces, resident apartments, and other assigned areas clean, orderly, and welcoming in support of a senior living environment centered on comfort, connection, and joy.

What you will do

• Carry out cleaning tasks for assigned spaces as directed.
• Keep public areas and resident rooms clean and presentable.
• Sanitize bathrooms and washroom fixtures, including counters, mirrors, sinks, lavatories, and other fittings in apartments and shared areas.
• Vacuum carpeted surfaces and mop tiled floors.
• Remove spots from walls and windows.
• Dust furniture and clear trash bins.
• Clean baseboards, pictures, lighting, and HVAC vents.
• Help arrange activity rooms, including moving furniture when needed.
• Complete required training through the community and the learning management system on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Participate in all mandatory staff meetings.
• Take on other related duties that support the community and the well-being of residents.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate should have basic housekeeping knowledge, the ability to operate the required equipment, and strong communication, problem-solving, and time management abilities. You should be comfortable working with residents, families, team members, and vendors, and be able to follow both spoken and written instructions. The role also requires a solid command of English for reading and writing, along with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Physical expectations

• Continuous walking and standing are required.
• Work may take place both indoors and outdoors.
• Sitting is only occasional.
• Lifting, carrying, and pushing may involve 0-10 pounds constantly, 11-50 pounds frequently, and 51-100 pounds occasionally.
• Frequent stair climbing is required, with the elevator available as an alternative when possible.
• Frequent bending at the waist, knees, hips, and spine may be needed, sometimes while handling weights of 25 pounds or more.
• Frequent squatting may be required to reach below knee level and may involve lifting up to 50 pounds or less.
• Occasional twisting or rotating of the trunk, hips, knees, and neck may be necessary while handling weights of 25 pounds or more.
• Frequent reaching is expected, including occasional overhead reaching with weights up to 10 pounds or reaching below the waist with weights of 25 pounds or more.

Experience and qualifications

• Housekeeping experience is preferred, though not mandatory.
• General familiarity with housekeeping practices is needed.
• Ability to use all required equipment is expected.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills are required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and vendors.
• Must function well both as part of a team and independently.
• Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
• Must have sufficient English proficiency to read and write clearly.

Salary

Compensation is listed at $18.00 to $18.50 per hour.
