Founding Designer

About the Role

Floot is looking for a Founding Designer to partner closely with the founders in defining how software gets built in an AI-first world. This role owns the product design direction for Floot’s main experience, including the AI builder, editor, generated apps, onboarding, brand, and growth-focused surfaces.

Floot is building a platform that helps non-technical founders and creators turn ideas into live apps and websites without writing code. The company’s vision goes beyond simple app generation: it aims to discover new ways for people to work with AI to solve business challenges, automate workflows, and change how work is accomplished.

Design is a core part of that vision. The team wants users to feel capable, confident, and never blocked. As the first designer, you will establish the product’s quality standards and help make AI-powered creation feel intuitive, delightful, and dependable.

What You’ll Do

• Regularly speak with users to learn where they struggle, what helps them succeed, and how Floot can make AI-assisted building feel smoother.
• Own the full design process for key product journeys, including AI chat, app creation, editing, onboarding, publishing, templates, and app administration.
• Create fresh interaction models for AI collaboration, such as guiding the system, refining outputs, fixing issues, automating tasks, and understanding AI decisions.
• Define the standard for both visual design and user experience across Floot’s product and the apps created on the platform.
• Use AI tools and hands-on prototyping to build and ship real product experiences rather than stopping at static mockups.
• Contribute to Floot’s brand, website, growth tests, launch materials, and category-defining storytelling around AI software creation.

Requirements

• Proven product design background with experience shipping polished software products from start to finish.
• Strong user experience judgment, with the ability to simplify complicated flows and make AI or technical systems feel easy to use.
• Excellent visual design taste, including attention to typography, spacing, hierarchy, interaction quality, and overall polish.
• Comfort using AI tools to prototype, build, and help move product ideas into production.
• Ability to work well in uncertain situations and turn messy problems into clear flows, prototypes, and shipped outcomes.
• Fast-moving but deliberate approach, with the ability to learn from users while knowing where extra craft is worth the effort.
• High ownership and autonomy, with comfort taking broad responsibility from concept through execution.
• Genuine interest in AI-native product design and in inventing new interaction patterns beyond standard SaaS conventions.
