Role overview

This remote contract role is for an Excel specialist who will help improve next-generation AI systems by contributing high-quality, domain-based input. The focus is on applying strong spreadsheet expertise to real business scenarios so models can learn to reason and perform better. Prior experience in AI is not necessary; what matters most is deep knowledge of Excel and practical business problem-solving.

What you'll do

• Examine, interpret, and refine complex Excel workbooks used in business operations, strategic planning, and data analysis.
• Share detailed observations and practical examples of strong Excel practices for operational and consulting scenarios, excluding finance-related use cases.
• Create, record, and hand over templates or approaches that demonstrate expert-level Excel knowledge for AI training purposes.
• Work with the client team to map important workflows and operational issues reflected in spreadsheet documents.
• Assess and recreate real business scenarios using advanced Excel formulas and features.
• Communicate with clarity in both writing and speaking, producing accurate and complete documentation.
• Support the development of data-analysis case studies and operational scenarios that rely on Excel expertise.

Skills and experience needed

• Advanced mastery of Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data validation, and automation functionality.
• Hands-on experience building spreadsheet solutions for business operations, strategy, or consulting environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical ability to work through non-financial business challenges in Excel.
• Excellent written and spoken communication, along with strong attention to detail.
• Capability to document workflows, prepare learning materials, and give precise, actionable feedback.
• Experience with data analysis, scenario planning, and process improvement using Excel.
• Self-driven work style and comfort operating independently in a remote setup.

Preferred background

• Experience in business operations, strategy, or management consulting.
• Exposure to AI training work or contributing domain knowledge to machine learning datasets.
• Background in building Excel-based tools or dashboards for operational improvement initiatives.
