Key responsibilities
The Dietician will support inpatient and outpatient care by assessing dietary needs, preparing suitable meal plans, and guiding patients and their families on nutrition-related matters. The role also includes maintaining records, coordinating with the healthcare team, and supporting quality and compliance practices within the department.
In-patient care
- Conduct daily rounds in the IPD and prepare diet plans for admitted patients.
- Provide nutrition counselling to both IPD and OPD patients.
- Check and taste meals prepared for patients to ensure suitability.
- Oversee tray arrangement and meal service for patients.
- Meet newly admitted patients and handle their dietary assessment.
- Follow the IPD workflow process and complete the related records accurately.
Patient care and counselling
- Prepare meal menus for IPD patients.
- Create appropriate diet plans based on guidance from the Medical Coordinator.
- Educate discharged patients and their families on the recommended diet to continue at home.
Process, documentation, and quality
- Support the functioning and supervision of the Dietetics department.
- Share ideas and inputs that help improve departmental operations.
- Contribute to the development of the IPD patient flow process.
- Create patient education content and materials.
- Help implement and document NABH policies and related compliance requirements.
- Give priority to emergency cases and coordinate with consultants and the relevant departments as needed.
- Maintain accurate departmental records and documentation.
- Handle all patient, staff, and business-related information with strict confidentiality.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities.
- Take on additional duties when required by work demands.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
