Role Overview

The Data Scientist will work with software-related data to verify its accuracy, prevent data loss, and support reliable analytics. This position involves working across multiple data sources, building analytical tools and models, and turning findings into clear reports and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Gather data from several sources and review it for quality and consistency.
• Analyze and interpret data used by the software to confirm it is valid and complete.
• Develop and apply tools, data models, and algorithms that improve validation, precision, and analytical output.
• Prepare and deliver reports summarizing findings, suggestions, and proposed fixes.
• Work collaboratively to maintain data integrity and avoid any data loss within the software environment.

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or another closely related field is required, and the degree must come from a regionally accredited institution recognized by MSCHE, NWCCU, HLC, NECHE, SACSCOC, or WSCUC.

The role calls for at least 3 years of strong experience in software development, integration, or testing, including hands-on work with test plans and scripts. Candidates should also have regular experience with scripting languages such as Python and R, along with common data science or advanced analytics libraries.

Applicants should bring substantial background in data science, data mining, statistics, or graph algorithms in support of analytics goals. Practical knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, API development, ETL pipelines, web application servers, or search indexes is also expected, along with familiarity with tools and languages such as Python, Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, NumPy, Requests, or Antigravity.

Experience applying advanced mathematical and statistical methods, operations research techniques, and spreadsheet-based data manipulation and visualization is required.

Clearance Requirement

This role requires a TS-level clearance with SCI eligibility. Candidates must be U.S. citizens in order to be considered.

Additional Desired Background

Prior DoD intelligence collection and analysis experience would be a significant advantage.

Location and Work Conditions

The position is based in North Charleston, South Carolina, and is fully on-site at a government lab. Travel is expected to be minimal, at 0% to 5%.
