Company Overview
Fisher Industries is a family-owned group of businesses with a long history of delivering heavy civil construction and aggregate solutions across the United States. With more than 70 years in the industry, the company works on highways, bridges, aggregates, and major infrastructure projects, backed by its own drilling, blasting, crushing, asphalt, and concrete capabilities. The organization focuses on practical, cost-effective delivery while prioritizing safety and quality, and it continues to expand without losing the values of a family-run business.
Position Summary
The Data Analyst will support Business Transformation efforts and internal teams by turning operational and financial information into usable insights. As the company modernizes its processes across aggregate production and heavy civil construction, this position will contribute to a developing data environment designed for innovation, simplicity, and efficiency. This role suits an early- to mid-career professional with a strong desire to learn and grow. The technology landscape is still evolving, so the right person should be comfortable helping define future systems rather than working in a fully established setup.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Business Transformation and leaders from operations, finance, HR, safety, marketing, project management, and other functions to clarify business questions and convert them into reporting needs.
- Create, update, and refine Power BI dashboards and reports that track key measures for projects, plants, and business units, including safety, production, margins, and utilization.
- Develop and tune SQL queries to pull, combine, and reshape data from ERP systems and other platforms as integrations expand.
- Design and maintain data models, semantic layers, and reusable datasets that help reduce duplicate reporting and create consistent business definitions.
- Carry out one-off and recurring analyses to support bid pricing, cost reviews, process improvement work, and leadership requests.
- Record data sources, metric definitions, and report calculations in straightforward language that business users can understand.
- Assist in building data checks, reconciliation processes, and lightweight monitoring for pipelines, working with IT or external vendors as needed.
- Train and support users so they can navigate dashboards, understand metrics, and self-serve when appropriate.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business, Information Systems, Finance, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 2 to 5+ years of experience in a data analyst or similar position.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, measures, calculated columns, basic row-level security, and dashboard layout.
- Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating data.
- Advanced use of Microsoft 365 tools, especially Excel (Power Query, PivotTables, lookups), along with OneDrive/SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint for executive presentations.
- Understanding of data modeling concepts such as fact and dimension structures, star schemas, and basic normalization/denormalization.
- Working knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts such as refresh schedules, incremental loads, and source-to-target mapping; direct tool experience is helpful but not mandatory.
- Interest in, or willingness to learn, data structures common in construction and heavy civil work, such as jobs, cost codes, phases, equipment, labor, and materials.
- Exposure to Power Automate for simple workflow automation, Python or R for deeper analysis, and cloud data platforms such as Azure SQL, Synapse, or Snowflake is an advantage.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without employer sponsorship.
- Subject to background screening.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
