Role overview
QT Technologies Ireland Limited is looking for a senior systems software engineer to join its Core Platform team in Cork. The role focuses on next-generation SoC work across compute, smartphone, IoT and related product lines. You will contribute to the design, prototyping, testing and documentation of advanced embedded drivers and features that support Qualcomm’s broader chipset portfolio across mobile, automotive, XR and other areas.
You will be part of a global, collaborative engineering environment that emphasizes innovation, learning, inclusion and technical excellence.
What you will do
- Develop and prototype advanced features across multiple device driver teams.
- Build critical embedded drivers and related functionality for a wide range of chipsets and product categories.
- Design, test and document drivers for both internal engineering use and external consumers.
- Work closely with large, multi-disciplinary teams across different geographies.
- Contribute to experiments, analysis and improvements in engineering methodology within your area of expertise.
What the employer is looking for
The ideal candidate should have a background in SoC development or architecture, especially in compute or mobile systems, along with strong knowledge of Linux kernel internals, device driver development and embedded systems architecture. Strong debugging ability, solid C programming experience and comfort working in cross-functional teams are key. Experience with ARM CoreSight, Python, Perl, assembly or C++ would be an advantage.
Areas of expertise that may be useful
Experience in ARM or RISC-V architecture, especially coherency, signaling, memory management and virtualization, is highly relevant. Knowledge of DSPs, CPUs, peripherals, DDR, interconnects, system cache, QOS, power, boot, debug, security and access control architecture would also be valuable.
Education and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline, together with at least 2 years of software engineering or similar experience; or
- A master’s degree in one of the same fields with at least 1 year of relevant experience; or
- A PhD in a related field.
- At least 2 years of academic or professional experience using programming languages such as C, C++, Java or Python.
