Minor Hotels is a global hotel owner, operator, and investor with a portfolio of more than 530 properties across 50+ countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and South America. Its brands include Anantara, Avani, Elewana, Oaks, NH Hotels, NH Collection, nhow, and TIVOLI.
This position is based at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara in Doha, Qatar. The Assistant IT Manager supports the IT Manager in running hotel technology operations end to end, with a focus on dependable infrastructure, secure systems, and effective guest-facing technology. The role helps keep hotel services running smoothly, strengthens the guest experience, supports cybersecurity and compliance, and works closely with internal teams to deliver IT services aligned with business priorities.
What you will do
- Support the setup, rollout, upkeep, and improvement of the hotel’s IT environment, covering networks, servers, hardware, and software.
- Help maintain core hospitality platforms such as the property management system, point-of-sale tools, key card entry systems, IP telephony, voicemail, CCTV, surveillance, guest Wi-Fi, and HSIA services.
- Apply cybersecurity controls, ensure backups are performed regularly, and keep disaster recovery plans current and tested.
- Provide daily technical assistance to departments across the hotel and resolve issues quickly to reduce disruptions.
- Coordinate with outside vendors, service partners, and corporate IT teams for support tasks and system enhancements.
- Deliver training to employees on system use, cyber awareness, and compliance with IT policies and procedures.
- Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and maintaining an accurate inventory of IT assets.
- Evaluate technology options and suggest solutions that improve efficiency and elevate the guest experience.
- Make sure all IT practices meet local data privacy laws, regulatory requirements, and internal standards.
- Take part in a 24/7 support rota or on-call arrangement for urgent incidents and critical outages.
What the role asks for
- A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a similar discipline.
- At least 3 to 5+ years of experience in IT management, ideally within the hospitality sector.
- Hands-on knowledge of hotel systems such as Opera PMS, MICROS POS, and key card solutions.
- Practical experience with networks, servers, Windows-based environments, and cloud services.
- Strong awareness of cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and data protection requirements.
- Good leadership, communication, and project coordination abilities.
- The ability to handle vendors, manage budgets, and drive strategic IT initiatives.
