Description de l'emploi
Role overview
Amazon is seeking a construction-focused site engineer to join its Engineering Team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The position centers on managing industrial development projects end to end, including new facilities, retrofits, expansions, renovations, and tenant improvements. The work spans fulfillment centers, sortation centers, delivery stations, and related support buildings, along with facility network infrastructure and base-building handover activities.
This role combines construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities coordination, and contract administration. The selected candidate will act as Amazon’s on-site representative and main point of contact for developers, general contractors, consultants, internal technical teams, and operational stakeholders. The position requires strong judgment, independent execution, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, from smaller refurbishments to large-scale developments worth more than $100M.
The role is based in Riyadh, KSA, with 40% to 60% travel time across Saudi Arabia or other MEATR countries.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee construction projects for new fulfillment centers across the MEATR region, as well as renovations and capacity upgrades in existing sites.
- Evaluate the effects of changes to schedule, budget, and permitting requirements.
- Work with technical and operational teams to review construction scope and shape engineering and design work for new build and remodel projects.
- Run several projects at the same time, ranging from small renovations to major new facilities.
- Operate with limited direction while managing work within the assigned region.
- Develop reports, technical specifications, and analyses that clearly define design needs, equipment, and service requirements for expansion and remodel work.
- Negotiate contracts and amendments with developers and general contractors, and prepare formal approval documents when needed.
- Coordinate site execution, planning, subcontractor activity, and business proposal specifications.
- Track project health using KPIs related to safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability.
- Support the transition of base-building management and ensure all turnover records are complete.
- Review design packages and construction progress to confirm alignment with current building standards.
- Critically assess design standards to identify opportunities for value engineering and design improvements.
- Review cost and time change requests submitted by external project teams.
- Validate internal change requests, assess their impact, and ensure approved changes are implemented efficiently.
- Take part in negotiations with regulatory authorities and other jurisdictional bodies when required.
- Communicate clearly and transparently across teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Typical activities may include site validation, due diligence, risk assessment, design coordination, contract and cost discussions, and stakeholder management. Strong communication with both frontline teams and senior leadership will be essential.
