This opportunity is with a global manpower provider that supports the energy, infrastructure, and IT sectors across more than 70 countries. The assignment is with a major oil and gas operator for a long-term contract position based at an onshore site in Ras Laffan, Qatar.

Position details

Title: Senior Process Engineer

Start date: As soon as possible, typically within one month’s notice

Location: Onshore Qatar Site - Ras Laffan

Working schedule: 5 days per week, 8–10 hours per day, or according to project needs

Key responsibilities

  • Offer specialist process engineering support to operations, including design reviews, HAZID, SIL and HAZOP studies, management of change, risk assessments, commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, punch list closure, warranty claim resolution, and safety and reliability improvements.
  • Help create standard operating procedures for new projects.
  • Build and apply process surveillance tools for operating assets in line with the surveillance plan to support safe, reliable, and efficient production, including issue troubleshooting, engineering advice, and prompt escalation of monitored deviations and threats.
  • Take part in system completion activities and pre-commissioning walk-downs, including witnessing chemical or catalyst loading when needed.
  • Provide subject matter input to other disciplines and functions to support business goals.
  • Assist with the smooth execution of project tie-in activities for systems under the role’s responsibility.
  • Track and resolve key issues through an issue register, including risks from new technology that may affect reliability, availability, and cyber security, and prepare handover packs for the operating company after start-up.
  • Support complex and high-risk commissioning work by carrying out strong system surveillance, tuning and optimizing systems, and advising operations and maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
  • At least 6 years of experience in an oil and gas environment.
